Friday nights are no longer a good option for listening for frog calls. It’s warming up and people are outside. The music from nearby bars carries over the lake. The calls are very minimal when there’s a lot of noise. Some peppers were out. I heard one call of a Norther Leopard Frogs, unfortunately those have diminished. The Toads are coming out though.

Sunday nights are the best night. I find Sundays and Mondays the quietest nights for external noise. It seems that the Spring Peppers have quieted down in the spot I have been listening at and have moved to the surrounding areas. They’re still calling in the listening spot, just not as loud. I have noticed the Spring Peepers are sensitive to when I walk up to the location. When there were more in the area they didn’t stop calling when I approached. There’s a sound I can’t identify. I’ve always wondered what it is but doesn’t seem to be a frog. That sound has appeared this weekend. I have a lot of recordings from Sunday night and will have to sort through them. I know there’s definitely Spring Peppers and Toads. There might be a Cope’s Gray Tree Frog. I can no longer hear the creaking of the Boreal Chorus Frogs.
